Just when we thought the world of UFOs or UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena) couldn’t get any stranger, the FBI turns out to have secret files on UFOs/UAPs. This was news to many. Apparently, the information turned up in part because some of the FBI employees were also working on J6 cases.

At Politico, the worry is that the FBI UFO trackers may be out of a job.

The existence of the FBI’s informal working group on the issue has not been disclosed publicly before. Graves and three other people familiar with the group said it consists of a national program manager and more than a dozen employees across the country who spend much of their time tracking down UAPs.

Graves said that for more than a year, his group has worked with the FBI team to refer interested witnesses, leads and open source intelligence to help the bureau’s efforts to protect the country and the aviation industry from unidentified phenomena. He said the agents have interviewed interested witnesses and “plus up” these reports with classified information.

“This FBI Working Group is uniquely positioned to investigate UAP due to their joint law enforcement and intelligence authorities,” he said, adding he was “deeply worried that agents key to the investigation of UAP could be removed, which would undermine the Trump Administration’s commitment to take the U out of UAP.”

The Pentagon has a similar program, Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, so it is possible that the new administration’s cost cutters would see the FBI’s program as an unnecessary duplication.

On the other hand, two current members of the administration, Marco Rubio and Mike Waltz, have stressed the importance of identifying the true origin of UFOs/UAPs as a national security issue. So presumably the FBI’s challenge will be to demonstrate that it can do things that the Pentagon can’t.

Note: Politico is currently the focus of an uproar about government funding from USAID, which it says was for subscriptions only.

You may also wish to read: The UAPs (UFOs) are “not caused by any U.S. advanced technology” And that’s all the Pentagon probably really knows. Some, including physicist Mark Buchanan, hope we never find out if it’s aliens or not.
