Monday Micro Softy 48: Why Is Freddy Pushing His Car Around?
And, despite being a heavy smoker, he doesn't get winded…For this week’s Micro Softy, think outside of the box.

When Freddy “the Mooch” got out of jail, he pushed his small car to a location near the jail and paid the property owner some cash. Next, he pushed his car to a house and paid the owner an even larger amount of money. Dejected, he then pushed his car to a hotel. It cost him more here than it did for the first two stops combined. He’s now almost broke. So he pushed his car to a house that he owns where he is able to stay for a while and relax.
So what’s the story here? Why is Freddy the Mooch pushing his car from place to place?
Hint: Even though Freddy is a heavy smoker, he did not get winded.

Here’s the solution to Monday Micro Softy 47: An Intentional Error?
Last week’s Micro Softy looks at a curious type of incident that has really happened in major league baseball. To recap, there’s one out with men on second and third. It’s the bottom of the ninth and the score is tied. The batter hits a deep flyball. The outfielder can easily catch the ball for the second out but doesn’t. Instead, he just lets the ball bounce onto the ground in front of him. Why?
There is a subtle hint in the picture that ran last week and is repeated here. Note that the baseball is in foul territory.
That fly ball was hit into deep foul territory. If the outfielder caught the ball, the man on third could tag, score and win the game. So he chose not to catch it.
Think it doesn’t happen? Here’s a video showing an outfielder intentionally missing an easily caught fly ball in a major league baseball game:
